Negative Calorie Foods

We all know there are lots of foods that just pile on the calories, but would you believe it if I said there are negative calorie foods too? These are foods that will actually help you to lose weight because they burn calories when you eat them; more calories than they even have. This means that you are actually losing calories by eating these foods. So what are they?
Most people know about celery. It’s a 5 calorie per serving food that takes a fair amount of effort to chew so you are burning more calories than taking in. Other foods that work in a similar way includes lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and onion. Just think about it. If you ate a salad with those ingredients in it and a serving of light dressing, you’d be breaking even or better! There are also many fruits that fall under the negative calorie foods category such as apples, various berries, and grapefruit. A smoothie with just these super sweet fruits could be a great snack or drink that will let you lose weight.
In order for negative calorie foods to actually let you burn more calories than you are eating, all of these foods need to be eaten raw. Seasonings and other additives can alter the effects and even add calories to these foods. A person’s daily diet shouldn’t consist of only these foods because it can lead to malnutrition but they are great for eating between meals when you need something to take the hunger edge off.
