10 Weight Loss Tips

1. To lose 10 pounds of body fat a year, you need to eat 100 calories less per day. Cutting too many calories from your daily intake will sap your energy level and increase your hunger, making you more susceptible to splurging on high-calorie foods.
2. Don’t skip breakfast. Eat within two hours of waking.
3. In fact, eat more breakfast than you think you should. Trade in some of your dinner calories for more calories at breakfast.
4. Don’t allow yourself to get hungry. Eat at least every four hours, and split a meal in half to make sure you properly fuel up pre- and post exercise. For example, eat part of your breakfast before your morning exercise (a banana) and the rest of your breakfast afterward (a bagel with peanut butter).
5. Eat at least three kinds of food each meal from these four categories: breads, cereals, and grains; fruits and vegetables; low-fat dairy and soy; and lean meats, fish, and nuts. Breads, cereals, and grains should be the foundation of each meal, with protein as an accompaniment.
6. Shoot for a gradual loss of body fat. You’re more likely to put the weight back on (and more) if you drop weight too quickly.
7. Liquid calories add up fast and can lead to weight gain. Minimize the amount of sodas, juices, store-bought smoothies, sports drinks, coffee drinks, and alcohol you consume.
8. Eat closer to the earth, enjoying fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Minimize the amount of processed foods you eat; they tend to offer less fiber and are less satiating.
9. If you can’t resist fast food, ask for nutritional information before you make your choices (or check in advance via restaurant Web sites). Avoid any menu items with the words “fried,” “crispy,” and “special sauce,” which are guaranteed to be high calorie.
10. Remember that the calories in the energy bars, sports drinks, and gels you consume during a run add up, even though you’re running. Consume them only as needed.
Understanding Insulin Resistance

We heard a lot about insulin in the days of low-carb diets. And for good reason. Problems with insulin are a root cause of some of the most dangerous health conditions, as insulin affects almost every cell in the body.
Insulin plays a critical role in how your body uses food. Its most important role is to lower the concentration of glucose in your blood. When you eat, your digestive system breaks food down into glucose, and the glucose recirculates in your blood stream. In response to the rise in glucose after a meal, the pancreas releases surges of insulin, whose job is to clean the glucose from the blood. Some of the glucose is diverted into the liver, where it’s converted into stored glucose, called glycogen, for later use by the muscles. Insulin then helps turn any leftover glucose into fatty acids and stores them in fat cells where they can be tapped later for fuel.
By making poor food choices, like scarfing down too many highly processed, refined carbs (like white bread and pasta!), we can do things to cause our bodies to create too much insulin. When you repeat that cycle too many times (like by repeatedly eating sugary junk on an empty stomach) your pancreas will overcompensate and produce more insulin, which your cells will eventually start to ignore. This is called insulin resistance and it is the precursor to type 2 diabetes and it is common in overweight people. Turned away at the door, the sugar is left with no where to go. If it hangs around in your blood too long, doctors call this impaired fasting glucose (if measured in the morning) or impaired glucose tolerance (if measured two hours after a meal). You could develop full-blown diabetes if both conditions go unchecked.
While high levels of blood glucose trigger insulin release, low levels suppress it, Maintaining low levels of insulin — one of the primary goals of the diet — allows your body to more easily tap in to your stored fat for fuel. Conversely, being insulin-resistant can hamper your weight-loss efforts. Try to avoid spikes in your blood sugar, by eating regularly. Pair carbs with protein, eat whole foods, avoid sugar juices and fruits, and highly-processed carbs. When your insulin-release mechanism works the right way, it helps keep your weight in check. So strive to keep it balanced!
Weight Loss Questions

There is a lot of confusion about weight loss, and it can lead to people asking weight loss questions that no one knows how to answers. There are many theories and speculations about what people can do to lose weight, what lets people lose weight the fastest, and other weight related topics, but the truth is that every person is different and it generally takes a few tries for each person to find what works for them.
Perhaps the most important and common of the weight loss questions is what causes weight gain? Again, the answer is different for everyone but there are a few factors that come into play. Age is a big one because when most people hit 18 or so, their metabolism stops being that of a kid and slows down. People who continue to eat the way they did when they were younger may notice a change in weight. Exercising less and eating more bad foods are also prime sources of weight gain. Pregnancy can also lead to weight gain even after the baby is born.
Weight loss questions that ask about how to lose the weight that was gained are much harder to answer. For some people, they find that simply eating more fruits and vegetables instead of high fat foods is all it takes to drop weight. Other people enjoy exercising enough to eat whatever they want and still lose weight. In some cases weight is really hard to lose even with diet and exercise and medical advice may be needed.
Weight Loss Foods

Like most people, you are probably someone who has tried losing weight and failed on a few different occasions. The reason for this is that most people go about losing the weight the wrong way by trying to severely cut back what they eat, or do unreasonable exercise plans. Instead of trying to overwork yourself or starve yourself, why not just try changing what you eat? Weight loss foods can help you lose weight without having to cut back how much you eat.
Vegetables are an obvious choice, but certain ones are better than others because of the many nutrients they provide with practically no calories. Spinach and kale are prime examples of this because they offer a large number of vitamins but have less than 50 calories per serving. Fruits are also great weight loss foods, especially berries and apples. Some fruits have a lot of natural sugars which can still make them high in calories but eating the right fruits will give you the nutrients and sugars you need without overdoing it. Protein is also really important for losing fat because it will build muscle with exercise. If you have muscles, the calories you take in will be used to feed the muscle as opposed to the fat. Fish is the best protein option among the weight loss foods.
By eating weight loss foods you’ll be able to lose weight easier, but don’t forget that exercise can safely hasten the time it takes to reach your weight loss goals.
Permanent Weight Loss

Permanent weight loss might seem impossible with the many stories of people dropping weight only to put it back on a few months later, but with the right attitude and lifestyle changes you can keep the extra weight off for the rest of your life. All it takes is maintaining simple and healthy changes that many people stop doing once they’ve lost the weight.
An exercise routine is probably the first thing to go when people lose weight because they often choose routines that are designed for quick weight loss. After you lose weight it’s important to keep working out but you don’t need to overdo it. Something as simple as taking the dog for one extra walk a day or doing some extra cleaning around the home can burn extra calories and keep your body moving enough for your metabolism to get a jumpstart. A few minutes a day to do anything active is a good step towards permanent weight loss.
The foods you eat is another necessity for permanent weight loss. You don’t need to cut the things you enjoy completely out of your life; you just need to moderate how much you are eating. If you want that slice of cake after dinner, see if someone wants to split it with you. If you want to add calories and fats into your meal for one day make sure that you are taking out calories and fat somewhere else. Drinking a lot of water is also a lifestyle change that will help keep the weight off. These are all really simple changes you can make to your routine that won’t have you gaining back fat.
Negative Calorie Foods

We all know there are lots of foods that just pile on the calories, but would you believe it if I said there are negative calorie foods too? These are foods that will actually help you to lose weight because they burn calories when you eat them; more calories than they even have. This means that you are actually losing calories by eating these foods. So what are they?
Most people know about celery. It’s a 5 calorie per serving food that takes a fair amount of effort to chew so you are burning more calories than taking in. Other foods that work in a similar way includes lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and onion. Just think about it. If you ate a salad with those ingredients in it and a serving of light dressing, you’d be breaking even or better! There are also many fruits that fall under the negative calorie foods category such as apples, various berries, and grapefruit. A smoothie with just these super sweet fruits could be a great snack or drink that will let you lose weight.
In order for negative calorie foods to actually let you burn more calories than you are eating, all of these foods need to be eaten raw. Seasonings and other additives can alter the effects and even add calories to these foods. A person’s daily diet shouldn’t consist of only these foods because it can lead to malnutrition but they are great for eating between meals when you need something to take the hunger edge off.
Healthy Weight Loss

Healthy weight loss is very important for people who want to slim down. Dropping weight by any means necessary just to do it quickly can lead to dangerous health problems such as nutrient deficiencies and bone problems. The trick to dropping the weight in healthy manner is to make lifestyle changes that you’ll be able to keep for your entire life. This is even beneficial over “lose weight quick” options because it will get the weight off and keep it off.
Don’t think that eating less will lead to weight loss. The truth is that it’s not about how much a person eats but what they are eating. Fruits and vegetables are rather low in calories and the ones that have higher calories also have necessary oils and fats that are actually good for the body. Low fat meats such as fish can be eaten in larger portions and still have less calories and twice the protein than that of a 99% fat free burger. Healthy weight loss is about eating foods without a lot of bad fats, not about not eating.
Even a change as simple as drinking mostly water and cutting out sugary drinks can have a huge impact on someone’s weight. Sodas and other caloric drinks is the main source of unwanted calories for some people and the switch to water will not only be less calories but can also improve the metabolism of the body. Other healthy weight loss comes from exercise. A person doesn’t even have to go to the gym. They can just be more active around the home and they’ll see the weight drop over time.
3 Weight Loss Super Foods to Help You with Quick Weight Loss

How nice it would have been if you could lose weight by eating, right? Well, your wish is about to come true. In this article I will tell you of three such foods that will help you lose weight. Sounds too good to be true? Well, just read this article to understand what I mean!
- Lean meats: Lean chicken meat is one of the best weight loss foods you can ever have! Why? It contains a lot of amount of protein and very little fat, and as you know, protein will build lean muscles. Lean muscles will help you burn fat by accelerating your metabolic rate!If chicken proves to be too expensive for your pocket, try turkey breast! In any case, make sure you eat only lean meats and stay away from red meat!Fishes are also very good for quick weight loss. Fishes such as salmon and tuna contain Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids fall in the category of ‘good fats’ or unsaturated fats. You gained weight because of a hormone called leptin which stores fat inside your body. Omega-3 fatty acids will cut down on leptin; when that happens, you are bound to lose weight!
- Olive oil: Replace your fatty oil with olive oil. Olive oil is almost free from the ‘bad fats’ (saturated fats) and contains a considerable amount of unsaturated fats. These unsaturated fats will not only suppress your appetite but also fight cholesterol. In short, olive oil will keep your cholesterol levels down.
- Berries: Berries are also good for weight loss. There are several types of berries: blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc. All of them will help you with weight loss in one or the other way. Strawberry is especially the best among the berries: not only it tastes good, but also helps in suppressing your appetite. Once you get rid of hunger pangs, you can focus more on your weight loss goals and less on eating!
As you can see, just because you want to lose weight doesn’t mean that you have to starve. Many people tend to starve or follow crash diets but nothing beats eating and losing weight. I firmly believe that if you eat the right foods, you will not only lose weight but also become healthy. Plus the foods I mentioned above are also rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
Also remember that these are not the only weight loss super foods that are available to you. Other foods such as nuts, oatmeal, eggs and almonds can also help you with weight loss. Add these foods to your diet and see how quickly you are able to get rid of your fat belly!
2 Easy Ways To Conquer Weight Loss Plateau

You were probably losing weight successfully for the first few weeks after you joined a new diet program, only to be stuck to a certain point later. When people start a diet program they rapidly lose a few pounds, because most diet programs are created to offer you ‘instant weight loss’. Sadly enough, this ‘instant weight loss’ is more often than not ‘temporary’ weight loss.
You will lose weight very quickly for the first few weeks but after that, you will suddenly discover that the scale is not going down anymore! You are not losing any more weight than what you have lost already! You have hit a situation commonly known as weight loss plateau! In such situations, the only remedy is a complete overhaul of your lifestyle habits.
You have probably done the same sets of exercises as well as ate the same types of foods over and over again during those first few weeks when you were losing weight. As a result your body got accustomed to your diet and exercise routine. When that happened, your weight loss methods failed to bring any sustainable results!
If you want to go beyond this point, you need to change your diet and exercise regimen.
Here are two methods you need to follow to get out of the weight loss plateau.
- Calorie-counting is not the way to go: When you count your calories, you basically limit the intake of calories to an abnormally low level. When you eat low calorie foods, there is no incentive for your body to increase your metabolic rate since it has to burn only a few calories. The result is that your metabolic rate always remains at a very low level. When your metabolic rate is low, you aren’t able to burn fat!In order to burn fat and lose weight successfully, you need to forget about calorie counting and eat enough so that your body is forced to keep your metabolic rate at a high level. Your body needs fuel to burn fat, and it can get that fuel only from foods!
- Exercise more: If you have been avoiding exercises altogether, or have been doing only light exercises, then you cannot lose weight. Weight loss is only possible if you perform high intensity workouts daily. Instead of being afraid of exercises, try to love them. Exercises are yet another powerful way of increasing your metabolic rate.
Follow these two methods and you will soon be able to acquire the slim body you desire!
